Kettlebell Clean & Press (Double)
A two-kettlebell clean from the hang into the rack, then a strict press to overhead lockout.
How to do it
- Stand with a kettlebell in each hand hanging between the knees, hips back, arms straight.
- Drive the hips forward and pull each bell into a rack on the forearm, close to the chest.
- Pause in the rack with the wrists straight and the trunk braced.
- Press both kettlebells overhead until the elbows lock and the biceps sit by the ears.
- Lower the bells under control back to the rack.
- Hinge the bells back to the hang and repeat the clean and press as one cycle.
Key technique cue
The hips drive the bells up, not the arms — don't muscle them in.
Common mistakes
- ✕ Curling the bells to the rack with the arms instead of driving them up with the hips.
- ✕ Crashing the bells onto the forearms, which means the catch was late.
- ✕ Leaning back to finish the press, which dumps the load onto the lumbar spine.
- ✕ Skipping the rack pause and turning the lift into a messy push press.
Benefits
- ✓ Links a lower-body hinge and an overhead press in one loaded sequence.
- ✓ Two bells raise the trunk and rack demand compared with a single-arm clean and press.
- ✓ Builds a repeatable path from hang to overhead that other kettlebell complexes use.

About the exercise
The double kettlebell clean and press links a hip-driven clean with an overhead press, done with a bell in each hand. From a hang between the knees the hips snap the bells to a quiet rack on the forearms; after a brief pause you press both bells to lockout without turning the lift into a jerk. The clean is a hinge. The press is a vertical push. Two bells raise the postural demand because there is no free arm to counterbalance.
